Our main fundraising event of the year has officially begun. The Academic Olympics are back and with some big improvements! Our Pioneers asked, and we agreed! This year students will be able to run the whole obstacle course.
Fliers went home and all students were assigned a color team in this school-wide event. Points will be earned for their team through donations (1 point for each dollar sponsored). Each student that receives at least $10 in sponsorship will begin receiving prizes. The more sponsorships a student receives, the more prizes they will receive (see prize list below). Top prizes include a hand print on our ocean mural wall (for over $100 in sponsorship) and the student that brings in the most sponsorship will win a family four pack of tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Make sure to ask all your friends and family to help sponsor your Pioneer. Check out our website for more information including a link where out of state family and friends will be able to donate via credit/debit card. A great way to help raise funds is to share the online payment link via your social media platforms so your family and friends can donate too. Click HERE
Also, keep checking out our Facebook Page HERE as we'll be posting updates on the teams rankings so you'll know where your student's team is currently placing.
Points will also be awarded during the Academic Olympics event (taking place September 15th) which will be a Survivor-style obstacle course covering 5 academic topics, English, Math, Science, Current Events and Problem Solving. The students will work in teams to complete each obstacle. Students that complete the whole course earn points for their team! Points will be tallied throughout the 2 week event, and the winning color team will earn a special prize!
All profits from this fundraiser go directly to our students! Funds raised help us make our first payment for our Music, Art and Drama enrichment classes, pay for Brain Pop for all classrooms, the Reflections art competition, and countless other beginning of the year activities that give our Pinetree Pioneers a well rounded education.
Family Night featuring "Sing"
"Don't let fear stop you from doing the thing you love!"
Come out to our first FREE family night of the year - a movie night featuring "Sing". Bring a picnic dinner for your family and come early to enjoy crafts and coloring. Plus complementary popcorn and juice will be served during the movie! Come in your PJs and bring your favorite blanket to snuggle up and watch the movie. Sing is rated PG so a parent or guardian must accompany all students.
Friday, September 8th - 5:30 Picnic, Crafts & Coloring - 6:00 Movie Time
Join the Pinetree PTA
As you see, we have kicked off our Membership drive with a cool "Star Wars" theme.
Jedi Master PTA, we are! Join us, you will!
Come join the Pinetree PTA and have a voice in your child's education. Please note that joining the PTA doesn't require you to attend the meetings or volunteer although we and your students would LOVE if you did. The Pinetree PTA had the highest increase in membership during the 2016-17 year in all of the SCV. Let's show that we can beat that. Also, the classes with the most memberships will win some really cool prizes.
We're up to 225 members!!! That's awesome! Go Pinetree!
Here's a current tally of memberships. Is your student's class in the lead? If not, join the PTA and increase their tally.
Storch 43 - Current Upper Grade Leader
Evans 39 - Current Lower Grade Leader
Membership Forms were sent home in your school welcome packets or you can click HERE to visit our website and join the Pinetree PTA
Classroom Volunteer/Room Parent Meeting
If you will be volunteering in the classroom and/or serving as a room parent we will be holding a brief meeting on Thursday, September 7 at 8:00am in the staff lounge. All volunteers are requested to attend this meeting to receive important information for the 2017-2018 school year.
We will also be distributing the room representative information books at this meeting. If you are not able to attend, and you are going to be a room parent for a classroom, please contact our room rep coordinator, Jessica, to make arrangements to receive this information at firstname.lastname@example.org
We will also be holding a brief copy machine training session following this meeting. New this year...you must be trained to use the copy machines to make photocopies for your child's classroom.
Reflections Art Night
This year's Reflections theme is “Within Reach.” The Pinetree PTA will be hosting a free Art Night & Reflections Art Contest Information Meeting on Tuesday, September 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the MPR. All ages and grades are welcome. Come color, paint and draw with us!
