Family Picnic / Movie Night featuring "Moana" - THIS FRIDAY!!!
This Friday, June 2nd at 5:30pm in MPR we'll be having our last free family event of the year.  This will be a family picnic where you can bring a picnic dinner and the Pinetree PTA will be providing a yummy complimentary desert, popcorn and juice as we watch "Moana" on Pinetree's brand new entertainment system.

5:30pm - Picnic/Crafts
6:00pm - Movie will begin

Jersey Mike's Restaurant Day/Night
We will be having our last Restaurant Fundraiser on Tuesday, May 30th from 10am to 9pm at the Jersey Mike's Subs located in the Golden Valley Plaza (next to Target).  15% of all sales goes to Pinetree PTA.  Click HERE to download the flier!

3rd Annual Pinetree PTA Chili Cook-Off
This past Friday, we had our 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off where 8 cooks battled it out for the top prize of the medal and four free meals to Cafe Rio!  Thank you to all those who attended and to PTA Chair Wink Wells for coordinating.

The winners were:

2nd Place: Eldon Marquez
3rd Place: Betty Wells

Honorary Service Awards
Each year the Pinetree PTA has the pleasure of honoring three amazing Pinetree Pioneers who have gone above and beyond to help Pinetree Community School, it's Pioneers and it's PTA.  This past Friday, we celebrated the following honorees in a special ceremony.  Mrs. Yoshicka Horton, Mr. Aaron Klein and Mrs. Tiffany Storch.

3rd Annual Pinetree PTA Chili Cook-Off
The 3rd Annual Pinetree PTA Chili Cook-off is this Friday, May 19th at 6:30pm.  Following a brief PTA meeting at 6:00 p.m.  Do you have a chili recipe that can’t be beat? Prove it at our chili cook off! Free to enter, free to judge!    Votes will be tallied at 7:30

We still have spots open for cooks!  So, if you're interested in cooking, please submit your signup form as soon as possible.

Fliers have gone home to signup and show off your chili.  If you didn't get one, Click HERE for signup flier and rules 

If you just want to come sample and judge - there is no signup needed and we'll see you there!  This is a FREE family event provided by the Pinetree PTA.  

Book Fair
Our next and last Scholastic Book Fair for the school year will be taking place now through the 19th. 

Shopping hours will be:
Monday (05/15):  7:45 am until 2:30pm
Tuesday (05/16): 7:45am until 1:30pm
Wed, Thurs & Fri (05/17-05/19):  7:45am until 2:30pm

All for Books Coin-a-day Challenge
We'll also be doing the All for Books Coin-a-day Challenge.  Every cent we collect will help us build and refresh classroom libraries with new books our students want to read from the Scholastic Book Fair.  Scholastic will match all donations with books for children in need.

Each day represents a different type of coin: 
Nickel Monday (May 15th) - Bring in nickels and wear a favorite hat
Dime Tuesday (May 16th) - Bring in dimes and wear crazy hair
Quarter Wednesday (May 17th) - Bring in quarters and wear your favorite color(s)
Dollar Thursday (May 18th) - Bring in dollars and wear sport clothing

Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is this week - May 1st through the 5th!  We are very fortunate to have such amazing teachers for our kids here at Pinetree. Let’s show our appreciation for all the hard work they do for our children.  Please have your child bring in a small token of affection… a picture drawn or note written especially for their teacher, a flower from their garden, a special craft or a small treat from each child would make them feel so special!  If you would prefer to purchase a gift, the PTA can provide a listing of each teacher's likes and dislikes to help guide you.

Pinetree Family Luau Dance
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Pinetree Family Luau Dance.  We hope you had as much fun as we did partying and dancing the night away.  Special thanks to VP of Programs board member Apryl Reaber who worked hard on the event!

Lancaster Jethawks Baseball Game
Pinetree represented at the Lancaster JetHawks Baseball game yesterday. Congrats to all the Pioneers who got perfect attendance in February and scored a free ticket.  Some even got to run the field and the bases.  We may have also been good luck charms for them as they pulled off a 11 to 10 win after two crazy final innings.
