Academic Olympics Point Tally
Students completed in the Academic Olympics obstacle course this past Friday and the overall feedback was they had a blast.  We're still collecting sponsorship until Friday 9/22 where we'll announce the final winning color team.  Is your Pioneer's color team in the lead? We're posting point tally updates on our Facebook page.  Below is a tally as of today.

Two teams tied in the water bucket challenge during the obstacle course and they were Orange and Purple and each were awarded an additional 100 points for their team.  Teams were also awarded one point for each challenge completed during the obstacle course.

One last note about the Academic Olympics.  This is our main fundraiser of the year and it's solely created and run by the Pinetree PTA so 100% of the dollars you donate for sponsorships go directly to the Pinetree PTA and the enrichment classes for our Pioneers.  So, a very special thank you goes out to our VP of Ways and Means Kym Johnson and our PTA President Ginny Wells for working so hard for putting this event together.  Also, thank you to all the Pinetree Parents who came out and helped run the obstacle course and made sure our Pioneers had a great time.

Each color team is made up of approximately 100 students from both upper and lower grade classes.  Here's the breakdown:
Red: Adachi, Gardina, Yamauchi
Orange: Wiltz, Childs, Evans, Sparks
Yellow: Hubbard, Ward, Winslow, Berentsen
Green: Sykes, Ahart, Delp
Blue: Pithey, Burkman, Nystrom, Jacobs
Purple: Storch, Woodard, Tyboroski, Dorr

Ice Cream Social
Our Annual Ice Cream Social will be held this Friday, September 22nd at 6pm.  It will be following a brief PTA Meeting at 5:30pm (to view the agenda for this meeting, please click HERE).  This is always a fun night and what better way to beat this heat than to come enjoy a yummy ice cream sundae.  All PTA Members will receive 1 free sundae for each paid member and don't worry, if you're not a member yet, we'll be accepting membership payments that night.

Also, if you're not a PTA member, you can still come and enjoy a sundae for just $1.  We'll be accepting two forms of payment.  Either $1 cash or you can bring in 10 boxtops to purchase your sundae.  Hope to see you there!

Reflections Contest
Is your Pioneer working on their artwork for the Reflections Contest?  Categories include Photography, Dance Choreography, Film Productions, Literature, Music Composition and Visual Arts.  All entries are due Tuesday, October 17th.

What's really cool is one of our very own Pinetree Pioneer's artwork from last year's contest which went to the city competition is currently displayed at our Valencia Town Center

As you see, we have kicked off our Membership drive with a cool "Star Wars" theme. 
Jedi Master PTA, we are!  Join us, you will! 
Come join the Pinetree PTA and have a voice in your child's education.  Please note that joining the PTA doesn't require you to attend the meetings or volunteer although we and your students would LOVE if you did.  The Pinetree PTA had the highest increase in membership during the 2016-17 year in all of the SCV.  Let's show that we can beat that.  Also, the classes with the most memberships will win some really cool prizes.

Harvest Festival - Save the Date!!!
Save the Date - Friday, October 20th from 4-8:00pm!  The PTA is in the midst of planning what we're sure will be another great Harvest Festival.  This is always one of the best nights of the year to come and hang out with your Pioneers and enjoy the Festivities.  This year we'll have returning favorites including giant slide, obstacle courses, train rides, games, lazer tag, photo booth and new this year - a Video Game Truck!  We'll also have some really cool silent auctions, raffles and the return of the yummy 6th Grade Food Booth.  Fliers will be going home soon with a awesome presale wristband discount.
